New Referee Advice for Success

Welcome to our new referees that have joined the GLASA Referee family. I am asked often by new and semi-new referees how to become a better referee. I usually answer with this: experience refereeing different type games (boys and girls, different age groups, single or 3-man crew), doing a lot of games, along a list of other items that are explained in clearer detail at the link below. Please take a moment to read as this is great information - not only for the new referee but for the seasoned and up-and-coming referee.

Referee Insurance

GLASA referees that are assigned to referee a soccer game on NTSSA / GLASA soccer fields are covered by your secondary insurance policy you paid for at annual recertification clinic or as a new referee (Grade 8 or 9). If you referee a game not assigned by an assignor and you have an accident you will not be covered. If you are assigned a game and a team forfeits or is a no show you can conduct referee services for 2 teams on the same field and at the same time you are assigned.

Be cautious of performing referee services for a scrimmage at your church, at the park, etc. as you will not be covered by the secondary insurance.

2011 Recertification Clinic

2011 Recertification Clinics - A (one) Recertification clinic is being set up. Watch your email for date, time and location. As last year, no badge nor booklet will be issued at the clinic. The on-line recertification process has some "bugs" and isn't being rolled out at this time.
